All we need to get started is your recommendation and a phone call or email. If you are familiar with the steps for making the initial mold simply post it to me along with the patient information sheet upon its completion. Otherwise, follow the step by step instruction video or handout below for online learning. If you have ever done any plastering, its actually a pretty simple first step of the custom leather process.
Once I receive the mold, I will fill it with plaster and make a positive model of your patient’s hand. The leather will then be molded and dried on the model. This process ensures a comfortable, durable and accurate fit. Straps will be sewn and riveted, and the leather will be treated for protection. I will then contact you to arrange delivery. During the process I will contact your patient to arrange payment as payment is expected prior to commencing the leather fabrication. If the injury is work related, please obtain approval from the Work Cover Case Manager prior to making the mold.
